Hours: 11.30am-2.30pm, 5.30-10pm
Price: 70~100 RMB/person
Visited: Dec 2010

A recently-opened Canotnese restaurant adjacent to the New World Mayfair Hotel in Zhong Shan Park.  Pleasant environment, good food, and friendly service. Until Dec 31st, lunch hour dim sum items are only 15 RMB each. There are only 15 days left, so hurry up and weave this into your itinerary!

The decoration is nothing fancy, but overall pleasant enough. Since the all the dim sum items were on promotion, we went straight to menu and ordered away. I’ve included the price FYI, but for now everything except the noodles and stir-fried vegetables (which are not on the dim sum menu) is 15 RMB:

XO 醬炒蘿蔔糕 Stir-fried turnip cakes with XO chili sauce (18 RMB).

晶瑩鮮蝦餃 Steamed shrimp dumplings (22 RMB).

麻香叉燒酥 Barbeque pork puff pastry (18 RMB).

原只鮮蝦腸 Steamed rice rolls with shrimps (28 RMB).

清炒時蔬 Stir-fried vegetables.

瑤柱珍珠雞 Glutinous rice with chicken wrapped in lotus leaves (22 RMB).

紅油抄手 Dumpling in spicy sauce.

炒麵 Fried noodles in soya sauce (38 RMB).

時菜牛肉球 Steamed beef ball with water chestnut (18 RMB).

迷你蛋撻 Mini egg tarts (15 RMB).

楊枝甘露 Mango dessert with sago and pomelo (22 RMB).

With the discount, we were happily stuffed at around 60 RMB per head. Among the dishes I tried, my favorites were: steamed shrimp dumplings (thin, transluscent, and chewy skin enveloping plump shrimp filling), glutinous rice with chicken wrapped in lotus leaves (perfectly sticky, with a hint of lotus leaf fragrance), barbeque pork puff pastry (sweet and salty) and stir-fried turnip cakes with XO chili sauce (a bit on the salty side but still quite yummy). The desserts were also delicious and I won’t hesitate to order them again.

The price performance ratio of Yue 1525 is perfect for a casual meal. It’s positioned right at the middle – a much better dining environment and service compared to Bi Feng Tang, at a price much less compared to Yi Long Court. I suppose this place isn’t expensive even without the discount, but why not try it while the deal is still on?

  1. Hi Cindyyyy! :D This is Wei-Wei, I’m Ivy’s sister! She showed me your blog, and I think that your writing is really professional. I have so much to learn from your blog – keep it up! :]

    1. Hi Wei-Wei, wow, I’m pretty sure you were still very little last time I saw you! How wonderful that you have your own blog now as well – I will check back often :)

    2. And by the way, the fun thing about your blog is that it’s personal, so don’t feel like you have to make it professional-sounding (and I’m only a amateur blogger as well, you can see that the it’s only 3 months old. you are the experienced one here!)

  2. I love the snark in the naming of the shrimp or beef noodle wrapped rolls. Because of the length, it sounds like length and intestines (same character).

  3. Hi Sugar&Spiced,

May I know which hotel serves good champagne brunch on Sunday?
I used to go Westin on the Bund but not sure if any good now. Thanks
