Sidewalk is a chic little cafe / shop that I stumbled upon while roaming around in the Noho area on a Sunday morning. I was originally looking for Lan Fong Yuen 蘭芳園’s milk tea and stir-fried instant noodles, but alas it wasn’t open. So how about a cup of coffee and some dainty little cupcakes instead? Why not.

At the waiter’s recommendation, I sampled a red velvet cupcake. Fluffy, with just the right amount of cream cheese frosting, the cupcake was a few delightful bites. Only when I paid did I find out that it costed me 30 HKD! I also later learned that these cupcakes are from Sift, and if you directly buy the cupcakes there, it would be 25 HKD a piece.

It’s been a while since I last visited Plum, and this small gallery has moved down the same lane in Jing’an Villa and transformed itself to an arts and crafts workshop space. If you are in the area, drop by and take a look at the quirky knickknacks.

Here is a schedule of workshops, which should also be available on their blog.

Opened by a Taiwanese music video director, Plum is a small gallery inside Jing’an Villa (靜安別墅) dedicated to exhibiting offbeat and unique art. Also serves coffee, tea, plum soda, and wine. A cute place worth visiting.

The exhibition theme changes every 1 or 2 months. Currently, Plum is having an exhibition titled “Post-Ready-Made”, which showcases works from Japanese and Taiwanese contemporary furniture designers Noriko Daishima, Mercy Yeh and Nicole Teng.
