Sunshine, blue sky, vineyards, and free wine tasting…what’s not to love? I was very lucky to have a friend who planned and drove, but you can easily find many day-trip wine tours online.

Other than wineries, we also visited a cheese farm for some cheese tasting.

Actually, even if you are not into wine, the beautiful scenery here is enough to attract.

I’d skip the Hunter Valley Gardens though. 25 dollars entrance fee? What a joke.

I’d rather just lounge around in the backyard of some winery, sipping a glass of good wine in the afternoon breeze.

Hunter Valley is 2.5 hours away from Sydney by car, but it’s well worth the trip. While you are there, have a fantastic seafood lunch at Leaves & Fishes.

  1. I am going to Hunter Valley tomorrow. Is there any other recommended restaurant other than Leaves and Fish there? Also, is there any particular winery that you would recommend as a must go?

    1. Hi there, I only went to Leaves & Fishes (stumbled upon it, actually) and don’t know any other restaurants in the area. We really just roamed the place and visited whichever winery that looked enticing, so I don’t have any “must go” recommendations. Sorry about that!
