Last week I had the pleasure of trying two new desserts from Maison Pourcel’s lunch menu. First there was a light and refreshing poached peach with verbana and red wine granite, THE perfect summer dessert. Simply adorned with a sprig of vanilla bean and a pair of mint leaves, this plate is a pleasure to both the eyes and the taste buds.

Next was a roasted mango topped with a heap of coconut crumble, suited for those looking for something more indulgent. The natural fragrance and sweetness of ripe mango was drawn out through the roasting process, and when combined with crumbly coconut bits and house made vanilla ice-cream, this plate was a satisfying contrast of temperatures and textures. Perfect for mango lovers.

I’ve heard some mixed reviews about the lunch courses at Maison Pourcel, and I’m not so sure if I would recommend those since I haven’t tried them myself. But the desserts! Perhaps these alone are worth the trip.
