[Shanghai] October on Instagram

I’m used to recording bits of my life on Instagram, but knowing that this is blocked in Shanghai, I’m selecting 25 snaps from each month and sharing them here on the blog. I’ve also included location details at the end of this post, do go check them out if you like what you see. October was an important month it for me as I moved from Paris to Shanghai during this time, and thanks to family and friends, transition to this new life has been smoother than I had expected. Here are some snapshots…

1. Visiting the newly-opened Chang Zuo for a cup of hand drip coffee.

4. Followed the hype to Mellower Coffee for a cup of “my sweet rain”. Why yes, that is a piece of cotton candy cloud raining sugar into my coffee.

5. La Dame Chatres opened a new branch at the cross road of Yan’an Road and Shui Cheng Road. Having a cup of iced coffee with a chocolate chestnut cake.

9. Every time I pass by Rumors Coffee, I’m attracted by the smell of freshly ground coffee and the warm lights oozing out of their front windows.

10. On my way home, passing by an old man selling pomegranates from Yunnan. The sign says: “3 for 10 yuan, guaranteed sweet!”

14. With a mini croissant and a mini pain au chocolat.

15. Well, might as well add an ice-cream to that…today’s flavors were salted caramel and tart tatin (apple tart).

16. Weekend, making an avocado toast at home. Add an egg to it and pair with a cup of black coffee.

17. Went to Taoyuan Village for some Taiwanese style breakfast. Food is ok, design excellent.

18. Made my way to The Bund and saw some beautifully restored historical buildings.

19. Headed upstairs to Sunny Hills for a free tasting of pineapple cakes and oolong tea.

24. Afternoon coffee at Uncle No Name Espresso. I love ordering lattes here because they always put their hearts into making the latte art…

25. Sunday on Yongkang Road, everyone’s out for a coffee. Heard great things about this particular cafe, but haven’t had a chance to try it yet.
