If you’ve read my previous post on American Cook in Paris‘ amazing fried chicken dinner, you already know that this man can cook. Last week, he whipped up yet another feast in his apartment, and it all started with this cucumber salad with soy and sesame oil. The theme this time, if you can’t already tell, is Chinese food!

Chilled chicken breast cooked in broth with ginger, garlic, and scallions. Favorite dish #1 for the evening.

Pork dumplings, steamed and pan fried (and the dumpling skin was handmade, if you must know.)

Dipping sauce for the dumplings, also homemade.

Tofu salad with oyster sauce, aromatics, and cilantro seared in hot oil.

On a side note, dinner was appropriately served with Chinese bowls and utensils ;)

Egg noodles with minced pork, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Favorite dish #2 for the evening.

Sweet and spicy chicken feet.

Taiwanese braised pork belly with five-spice tofu and shiitake mushrooms.

Spicy Sichuan green beans.

Mapo tofu. Favorite dish #3.

Bitter melon with eggs and tomatoes.

Stir-fried eggplant.

What an absolutely epic meal. There were actually two dishes that I failed to capture (the chopsticks didn’t wait), which were braised chicken in black beans, and stir-fried ong choy with garlic. The table was filled with enough food to feed 10 people, and since there were only 7 of us, I was able to pack a to-go box home that kept me satisfied for two days straight. So AJ, what’s next on the menu? I’m ready to come back again. Burp.
