Day 2 in Normandie started with a large coffee, toasted country bread, and homemade jams for breakfast. With sunlight spilling in from the windows, even better.

Then, we drove over to Honfleur, a touristy port town that has managed to maintain some of the charms that once inspired artists like Monet, Courbet, and Boudin.

Then, we cruised along to Deauville, which, with its race course, sumptuous villas, hotels, and casinos, is regarded one of the most prestigious seaside resorts in France. As we weren’t exactly into luxury shopping, we went straight for the sea. November weather is too cold for swimming, but a walk along the beach on a sunny day is always pleasant.

On our way back to Orbec, we passed by this small town (its name escapes me now), now dressed in beautiful autumn hues.

Like said, leaving Paris once in a while sure does wonders to the body and the mind.
