Fed up with paying 85RMB for a Cobb Salad at Element Fresh? Try Souper Fresh. For 58RMB, you get a buffet of greens, vegetables, dressings, and toppings like nuts, tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese, croutons, coleslaw, egg salad, potato salad, pasta salad, etc., etc., etc. Also included in the buffet are a selection of breads (corn muffins!), soups (my favorite being the carrot orange) and hot dishes (pizza pasta and the likes). Drinks and desserts are not included in the 58RMB, but are all reasonably priced and half-off when ordering with the buffet. Browse their full menu online.

How’s the quality? Some soups are a little runny, and the hot dishes are not very impressive, but just the greens and vegetables and toppings and potato salads and breads and hummus already justify the 58RMB price tag. They are starting up a second branch in Gubei soon, and supposedly will do a 50% off deal during its soft opening.

  1. Ooh I love Souper Fresh, it’s literally 10 minutes walk from my house and I’ve chatted with the owner a few times :) I agree with you about the soup: honestly I don’t think that paying 58 RMB in itself is worth it because I’m basically full after two rounds. So… the take-away option (28 RMB I believe? I may be wrong) is much more reasonable for my appetite hehe.

  2. Just went here for dinner tonight with my parents and our big dog Simba! Sitting outside in this weather was perfect. My mom and I actually got the a la carte salad option for 38, where they give you a bigger plate and you get to fill it up with “cold options” once. Needless to say, we took full advantage of that and enjoyed almost all the salad greens and toppings. They didn’t have hummus today though! My dad had the buffet option and I sneaked a few bites of soup. I really liked the spicy pumpkin Indian flavor one. We also tried the carrot cake, which was pretty good and not overly sweet. The coconut cream pie tasted barely like coconut but more rich and custardy. For the half price takeaway deal, they were only 6 and 20 rmb respectively, so we left very full and satisfied.

  3. Hey, we just started a new a-la-carte menu that can be for take-out or delivery! Check out our website for details! Pictures aren’t quite done yet, but we have the menu all up and we’ll have the online ordering by the end of the year. Hope this helps the people who just aren’t quite that hungry…
