[Shanghai] Restaurant Week 2011

Categories other10 Comments

Ladies and gentlemen, Shanghai Restaurant Week is here again. Among the new entrants in this edition, I’m especially excited about Pelham’s at the Waldorf Astoria, Isola bar + grill, and Jing’An at the PuLi. Some repeat participants that I’ll be going to again include Sir Elly’s from The Peninsula, Palladio from Portman Ritz-Carlton, and perhaps T8 Restaurant & Bar. Though I tried Yi Long Court and M1NT last time, I won’t be returning to them.

Reservations will open on Feb 22 at 10:00am, or if you are a DiningCity subscriber, you should have already received an early registration code. It looks like some of the popular ones – Pelham’s, Sir Elly’s, M1NT – are already fully booked. Yikes! For details and registration, visit www.shanghairestaurantweek.com.

  1. mind i ask, what was wrong with your experience at the Yi Long Court that was so awful that made you decide to never return again?

    1. Yi Long Court wasn’t awful. It was just mediocre, and since I will only be here for 2 days during Restaurant Week I have to save the spots for the better restaurants.
You can read my post on Yi Long Court for details.

  2. i see i see…. haha i would agree with you that the courses they have to offer was nothing too splendid to dazzle the taste buds, but other than that decent food+service right?
(i asked because i was interning at The Peninsula last summer :p)

  3. Which restaurants will you be sampling this time? Did you get reservations for Sir Elly’s? I got on too late, but I will be trying Hamilton House and Jing’An at The PuLi. I don’t have much time during that week.

    1. I’m out of town most of the week so I’ve only got a few reservations as well…
Jing’An is an excellent choice, I reserved that as well. Will also be going to Sir Elly’s and Pelham’s.

  4. oh wow that’s pretty cool! ummm i was half assisting the GM and then half with HR, but I was lucky to get to have a chance to actually dine in Yi Long Court with the rest of the trainees there along with the GM =)

I’m looking for internships for this summer too, and I really wish I can go back to taiwan, since i haven’t been back since last summer when i only had 2 weeks spent in taipei…but i’ll give the grand hyatt a call soon, and hopefully they’ll have some opportunities for me :p
