A cute little place on Yongfu Lu with delicious, delicious pasta.
Sausage (118 RMB), a tomato sauce based pizza with Mozzarella cheese, homemade sausage, mushrooms, spring onions, truffle oil. Nene’s thin, crisp pizza base is very different from the thicker and softer Neapolitan style base I usually like, but I don’t mind the change once in a while.
Margherita (98 RMB) was a bit sad with only a few droplets of basil leaves…and where are my dollops of mozzarella cheese?! It looked quite different from what Time Out got.
Correction 2012/8/19: The pizza in Time out magazine picture is “Arrabiata” (128 RMB) with buffalo mozzarella, not the simple Margherita I ordered.
Caserecce, sausage, porcini sauce and truffle cream (148 RMB) – this one I loved. Casarecce is a traditional scroll pasta from Southern Italy with an S-shape designed to hold on to as much sauce as possible, and it worked wonders with the porcini sauce and truffle cream in this dish.
Raspberry Mille Foglie (42 RMB), the Italian version of mille feuille, is a beautiful tower of thin pastries, custard cream, fresh fruits and dusted with powdered sugar.
Nene is pricier than expected, but I’ll come back perhaps for lunch (98~138 RMB) to try out some of their other dishes, especially after hearing wonderful wonderful things about their gnocchi…
