I really just wanted one scoop of chocolate ice-cream when I visited Awfully Chocolate this afternoon, but things never go as planned…
Awfully Chocolate’s “黑/hei” (27 RMB/scoop) is a blend of their own chocolate and Belgian dark chocolate (min. 70% cocoa solids), eggs, fresh milk and pure cream. This low air content ice-cream is supremely rich and dense, and supposedly has less sugar than most other premium ice creams. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it can’t be that healthy if it’s ice-cream, right? So forget the caloric content and just enjoy the scoop.
Here’s a dark chocolate cupcake (25 RMB), moist, fluffy, topped with a generous dollop of creamy chocolate frosting.
Followed with a salted butterscotch brownie (25 RMB). The decadent combination of salt, caramel, and chocolate reminded me of Hof‘s chocolate orange mud (one of my favorite chocolate treats in this city), except the texture here is much denser and richer.
