My birthday week came and went. It was an amazing few days filled with lovely people and unforgettable moments. First of all, a few delicious pastries from Pierre Hermé (details here).

And presents from friends near and far.

The day before my birthday, my roommate cooked up a delicious meal for me to be enjoyed at the comfort of our cozy Parisian apartment. To start, a mullet roe/chèvres/red currant tartine, accompanied with a mache/comté salad dressed in balsamic vinegar and truffle olive oil.

Followed by pesto chicken linguini, with plenty of garlic and a hint of white wine in the sauce.

And what is a birthday celebration without champagne? Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial it was. Yes I know, I really do have the best roommate in the world.

On my actual birthday, nothing but sunshine and blue sky in Paris.

A lovely picnic by the Seine River hosted by the ladies from Paris in Four Months, Little Pieces of Light, Expat Edna, Diane, A Broad, and Will She Love Paris? It’s always a good time when they are around :)

Food.

Wine.

A perfect sunset.

And even a perfect moonrise.

The next day, another gorgeous, gorgeous day in Paris. Finished work at the pastry shop earlier than usual and headed out to Invalides for (yet another) picnic with my colleagues.

Beer, wine, champagne, cheese, charcuterie, smoked-salmon cream cheese sandwiches, savory cakes with mushrooms, chèvre, and sun-dried tomatoes, melon ham brochettes…it was an overflow of food and good humor.

What do you think these guys are up to?

Doing some last minute touch-ups for my birthday cake, apparently! It’s a beautiful and delicious strawberry pistachio cake not sold in the shop, customized just for this special occasion.

What really took me by (a most pleasant) surprise was the unexpected birthday present – a chef jacket, with my name stitched on it! I couldn’t have thought of a better idea myself. I must be the luckiest pastry intern in Paris.

Thinking back to the past few days, I still can’t help but grin from ear to ear :) :) :) Merci à tous! But it’s not over yet – expect a few more posts on the delicious meals my friends generously treated me to this past week…
