This small pancake specialty shop in Jing’an area is so popular that they don’t even take reservations (not on weekends, at least). The food and the decor are just ok, but the the price is unbeatable – for less than 50 RMB, you get pancakes, sausages/bacon/ham, eggs, home fries, plus coffee or tea. Better yet, they serve breakfast until 3:00pm!
A not so pretty storefront
On this particular Sunday early afternoon, we waited about 20 minutes before we got seats for four. A word on the outdoor seats – if you choose to sit outside, expect to breathe in excessive car fumes as you chow down the pancakes because you will be practically sitting next to the road.

Most of the breakfast sets are similar – 2 small pancakes, 2 eggs any style, home fries, and sausages/ham/bacon – my favorite being the German sausages. If you’d rather not do sets, the banana walnut pancakes would be a safe choice, though they just seemed like plain pancakes topped with banana slices.

The smoothie tasted like cheap artificial strawberry ice-cream. Do not order this.

Mr. Pancake House doesn’t serve the best pancakes in town (Boxing Cat is better) and the decor isn’t exactly chic, but I might be back if I happen to be in the area. Since they don’t take reservations on weekends, expect to wait a while during prime hours.

Ooo we were at Boxing Cat the other night and I saw buttermilk pancakes on their menu, and was wondering if we should give ‘em a go. Might have to try them out this Sun :P Do you know what time they serve the pancakes until?

Boxing Cat pancakes are quite delicious :) I’m not sure how late they serve them till, but should still be available even if you go during late afternoon.

There’s always a crazy long queue outside every weekend about 12-2pm. I always give up and head to nearby Munchies instead. :S

Never going there again, the staff are awful! Last tim ewe went they only delivered 3 of 4 meals and although we asked twice, by the time the final meal came we had already finished our food. We asked to speak to a manager and they refused so we said we wouldnt pay for the final meal and they called the police who made us pay. Horrible experience
