What an upscale steakhouse entails: enormous slabs of premium beef, the ubiquitous shrimp cocktail and lobster bisque, the mandatory creamed spinach and asparagus with Hollandaise, a never-ending wine list, and of course, a hefty price tag. Morton’s is exactly that, but more. Its martini Happy Hour Monday to Friday from 5 to 7pm means 38RMB martinis, served with complimentary filet mignon sandwiches. This has got to be the best deal in town.

Other than the five special-priced martini at 38 RMB +15% each, there are also other regular-priced drinks (~100 RMB) and finger food.

The best part about Happy Hour at Morton’s is of course the complimentary sandwiches. Thick slices of medium rare filet mignon are dressed with a horseradish mayonnaise, then sandwiched between two toasted sesame buns. The quality of meat varied a little bit on the day we were there – some were perfect and some were tough to chew – but for the most part the sandwiches were very good. Better yet, the waiter automatically brought us another plate after we cleared our first and second, and we would’ve ordered more if we just had some extra space in our stomaches…

38 RMB per drink plus complimentary free flow of filet mignon sandwiches. I mean, what the heck.

  1. This looks like an awesome deal!

I always enjoyed Downstairs’ martini night but they never offered a non-sugary option.

I could get a cheap martini fix on Thursdays if I have an early dinner here and then head over to Yucca’s 2 for 1 martini night.

    1. Yes you absolutely must try this Buzz. Do you happen to work in Pudong? For me IFC is too far so I was only able to come during CNY break.
I have yet to try Yucca…how is the place?

  2. Working in Puxi so it is a bit of a hike, but this looks worth it. I have only been to Yucca for martini night but it seems like a pretty decent place. The dishes look interesting, unfortunately I did not get the chance to sample them.

  3. I’ve been hearing about this since I moved back to Shanghai in April – and I even work from the Pudong office once a week across the street! – and I’m FINALLY going to check it out tomorrow. Wish you were around to join, C!
