The first floor bakery of Manne et Sante’ looks decent enough, but I would’ve never ventured upstairs to the second floor cafe if not led by a friend. The small doorway, the shabby and twisting staircase, the dark interior…there is nothing delightful about the route leading up. Once you reach second floor and push open the wooden door, however, you will be showered with the sweet aroma of fresh pastry and coffee.

Because A has befriended the cafe owner during previous visits, we were able to have the master come out to personally brew coffee for us. The guy at the next table is obviously jealous that we got special treatment.
Mille Feuille
Tiramisu
The mille fueille was very pretty – a three-tier pastry tower with cream, fresh grapes, and blueberries sandwiched in between. The tiramisu, while it didn’t taste entirely like a tirasimu since it was lacking the coffee liquor flavor, was decent piece of dessert.
Opt for window seats on a nice day, open the windows and let the cool breeze fill the space
Will come back again for the valrhona chocolate pizza that we wanted to try but didn’t have any room for. There is, after all, a limit to how much sweetness one can take in a single afternoon.
