Not sure if you’ve already read my post on The Upper House in Hong Kong, but I was absolutely swooned by that hote. Needless to say, I had high expectations for The Temple House, belonging to the same group.

Donned in a heavy dose of dark woods and black, furnished with bugs and skulls and taxidermied foxes and such…with excellent coffee.

This little cafe run by two friends –  Rosa and Sharon – is Japanese in style and cute in every corner. Don’t forget to visit Rosa Books right next door, an independent book shop run by the same owners.

Lan’s Patisserie, a French style bakery in Chengdu, has been under fire since it opened earlier this year. Some people applaud it as “the best there is in Southwest China”, while others trash it for being “ridiculously overpriced”. Well, there’s no better way to find out than trying it myself…

Small Company is a mobile coffee trolley located inside Hug boutique at Chengdu Times No. 1. Try a cup of their iced latte to cool down this summer heat, takeouts might also be a good idea if you happen to work close by.

Curiously, the famed Berlin coffee roaster Five Elephant has its one and only branch outside of Berlin in Chengdu, China, of all places. A cute little shop worth visiting if you happen to be in the area.
