Located on the banks of the Jade river is The Georg, a 1000 sqm space of art × design × food by Danish silverware brand Georg Jensen. It includes The Living Room, set under a open space glass atrium, The Restaurant, a scandinavian take on international cuisine, and The Gallery, a showroom located on the 2nd floor. A gorgeous space inside and out.

位于北京東城區玉河橋畔某個傳統四合院裡的 The Georg,是丹麥百年銀飾品牌 Georg Jensen 打造的藝術 × 設計 × 美食空間,去過的朋友都說極美。在網上查了查,餐飲評價總體似乎不錯,價格也不離譜,決定前往探探。

Georg Jensen hired famed Danish design studio Space Copenhagen (who also designed NOMA) to re-envision this traditional Chinese courtyard house. All the furnitures have been custom-made, and modern Scandinavian fixtures are installed throughout the space, fusing harmoniously with the historical building.

果然,漂亮。Georg Jensen 請了丹麥知名的設計工作室 Space Copenhagen(連續幾年榮獲世界#1的 Noma 餐廳就是他們設計的喲)來規劃四合院裏 1000 平米的空間,左邊是起居室,中間是自然光充足的用餐區,右邊爲酒吧,二樓則是展廳。所有的家具都是定制品,燈具和裝飾也點綴的恰如其分,將北歐設計很自然的融合在中國傳統建築裏。

Helming the kitchen at The Georg is chef Talib Hudda, who has passed through many fine dining restaurants in Copenhagen before arriving in Beijing. We visited during Sunday noon time and got a taste of his brunch menu – 5 courses for 350 RMB, drinks extra (free flow of VOSS water 55 RMB, champagne 148 RMB/glass).

擔任 The Georg 廚房總監的 Talib Hudda 曾在不少哥本哈根的高級餐廳工作過。我們在周日中午到訪,嚐到他的早午餐菜單 - 5道菜的套餐每人350元,飲品另算費用(VOSS水55元隨意喝,香槟148元/杯)。

First course: croissant, pain au chocolat, sour dough, focaccia, with rosemary cream cheese, caramelized onion butter, chili jam, berry jam.

早午餐第一道:可頌、巧克力可頌、酸面包、佛卡夏面包,搭配迷叠香奶油乳酪、焦糖洋蔥黃油、辣椒醬、莓果醬。

Second course: poached egg, tomato hollandaise, crispy shallots, semi dried tomato confit, water cress.

第二道:水波蛋、番茄荷蘭醬、油蔥酥、油封番茄、西洋菜。

Tagged on an order of Watercress & Kohlrabi Salad (65 RMB) – water cress, kohlrabi noodles, slow-cooked egg, smoked salmon, and house-made XO sauce.

在早午餐套餐之外單點了一個 Watercress & Kohlrabi Salad(65元)- 西洋菜、苤藍絲、慢煮蛋、煙熏鲑魚、自制 XO 醬。

Third course: charcuterie – coppa, rougie duck liver pate, shrimp salad on rye.

第三道,腌肉拼盤:義大利 Coppa 火腿、鴨肝醬、鮮蝦沙拉佐黑麥面包。

Fourth course: remoulade & rosti: smoked brisket and mushroom, potato rosti, parsley remoulade, crispy malt, morning-glory.

第四道:煙熏牛胸肉和蘑菇、馬鈴薯餅、香芹醬、麥芽脆片、空心菜。

Fifth course: milk and cookies – double chocolate cookie with yogurt sorbet, and a poppy seed lemon loaf (more like a bite though).

第五道 milk and cookies - 雙重巧克力餅乾佐酸奶雪酪和榛果,最後還有一個 poppy seed lemon loaf 檸檬罂粟花籽蛋糕(寫著是 “loaf” 然人覺得會有一大塊,可是根本是一小口啊…)

The style of cuisine at The Georg is refined. As far as brunch goes, this is not your American-sized fluffy pancakes stacked up high type of place. The dishes were nice if not mind-blowing (perhaps dinner would be a better one to judge), and though the portions are not huge,I was sufficiently full after five courses…perfect for a little stroll up on the second floor.

很顯然,The Georg 走的是小巧精致路線。味道都不錯,雖不是令人特別驚豔的料理,不過感受的到主廚的用心,而且食材用的是好的。上菜時不覺得份量大,不過幾道吃下來也飽足,飯後散步正好參觀一下展廳。

The showroom displays Georg Jensen’s jewelry and silverware design across its 111 years of history, including some stellar designs from the Art Nouveau and Art Moderne periods.

二樓展示了 Georg Jensen 的珠寶和純銀制品,有品牌111年曆史中不同時期的經典,比如 Art Nouveau、Art Moderne 等時期的作品。

The reason why I enjoyed brunch at The Georg was not really for the food itself – though it’s quite nice as well – but more for the beautiful design and relaxing ambience. It’s quite amazing how empty this place is even on a Sunday, so if ever you want to get away from the crowd and enjoy a quiet brunch, come hide out in this secret garden.

The Georg 的早午餐令我喜歡的原因,料理只是一小部分,重點還是高挑的空間非常舒服(而且明明周日人還很少),配上周到的服務和悅耳的音樂,實在享受。想要離開人群,優雅的享用一份安靜的早午餐,就來這個秘密花園吧。
